Bio

José (Pepe) Sánchez is an assistant professor at the University of Colorado Denver School of Public Affairs. His research and teaching are focused on local governments, urban policy, and metropolitan governance. He teaches public policy analysis and has taught urban policy and metropolitan governance. Born and raised in Mexico City, he takes central or principal cities as his main object of study. 

Current research includes studying the role of central cities in public services delivery networks, and the effect of fiscal stress in the likelihood of cross-boundary cooperative ties. His teaching and research can be located at the crossroads of urban policy, network analysis, local governments, and governance. Professor Sánchez earned his PhD in public administration from the University of Illinois Chicago. He has a biweekly op-ed in one of the most established national newspapers in Mexico, El Universal. Professor Sánchez has been awarded twice with two of his young readers novels published in México, has a songwriting project, and has played the saxophone with several professional bands in Mexico and Chicago.
