Instructor – Criminal Justice
(teaching primarily at the bachelor's level in the Criminal Justice program)

The School of Public Affairs (SPA) at the University of Colorado Denver seeks an engaging full-time 9-month/academic year Instructor to teach students in the criminal justice program starting fall of 2024. (Faculty are required to begin working and have classes prepped one-week before classes begin on August 18, 2024). The expected teaching load is eight courses over the academic year in person and online (4 in each semester), mainly in the Undergraduate CJ program. Areas of expertise and teaching areas that we are looking for include: Criminological Theory, Interpersonal Violence, Corrections, Policing, Courts, Law, Victimology.

Key Responsibilities & Areas of Teaching :

  • Teach courses online and in-person as needed by SPA beginning Fall 2024.
  • Teach courses mainly in the Undergraduate CJ program as needed by SPA.
  • Contribute to the ongoing growth of the Criminal Justice program through committee service, student mentorship (formal academic advising provided by professional advisors in the School), serving as a second reader on capstone projects, and positively contributing to SPA programs.

Instructor – Criminal Justice, Public Administration/Policy
(teaching at the bachelor's and master's levels in the Criminal Justice, Public Administration, and Public Policy programs)

The School of Public Affairs (SPA) at the University of Colorado Denver seeks an engaging full-time 9-month/academic year Instructor to teach students in criminal justice, public administration, and public policy, starting fall of 2024 (preferred, and can be fully online for this first term if needed) or January 2025.  The expected teaching load is eight courses over the academic year in person and online (4 in each semester).  This Instructor will teaching in both the graduate (master’s level) and undergraduate programs in criminal justice, but may also teach courses within our MPA and MPP programs.  Areas of expertise and teaching areas that we are looking for include:  Methodological expertise: the most essential need is in teaching courses related to - Statistics and Research Methods especially in GIS, Data Visualization, Mixed Method Design, and Practice-informed Analysis.

Key Responsibilities & Areas of Teaching:

  • Teach courses online and in-person as needed by SPA
  • Teach courses at both the Undergraduate and Graduate (master’s) level as needed by SPA
  • Teach courses in the Criminal Justice,
  • May teach Public Administration, and Public Policy programs as needed by SPA
  • Additional Areas of expertise and teaching areas that we are looking for include:  Criminological or Organizational Theory, Interpersonal or Community Violence, Courts, Homeland Security, Victimology
  • Contribute to the ongoing growth of the Criminal Justice program through committee service, student mentorship (formal academic advising provided by professional advisors in the School), serving as a second reader on capstone projects, and positively contributing to SPA programs
