Dennis Strachota

Lecturer

Dennis R Strachota has more than 40 years of experience in state and local government finance as a budget and tax policy analyst, budget manager and chief financial officer. In addition, he served as lead budget consultant and manager of the Distinguished Budget Awards Program for the Government Finance Officers Association. In addition, he served as a public finance and budgeting instructor for online and residential MPA programs at Portland State University, California State University - Long Beach, and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Strachota is an author and editor of several public finance books and other publications, including the 2021 teaching case study, “Orange County, NC’s Budgetary Response to the Covid-19 Pandemic.” He received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his MPA from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. When he isn’t teaching, he can be found hiking and biking in northern Colorado.
