Tierney Bamrick

Grad Assistant Lecturer
  • School of Public Affairs

Tierney Bamrick is a PhD Candidate at the CU Denver School of Public Affairs. Her research is focused on nonprofit organizations, sociocultural inequity, and civil society. This focus is informed by her years of work in nonprofit management and her involvement with national-level initiatives to acknowledge and address inequity in the arts nonprofit sector. Before turning to the field of public affairs, Tierney earned a bachelor’s in music from Vanderbilt University, a master’s in music from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and a master’s in sociology from the University of Mississippi, where her award-winning thesis explored nonprofit organizational approaches developed by Black artist-administrators, how those approaches illuminate myriad sources of discrimination permeating nonprofit practice, and how Black leaders are creatively remaking that practice. Tierney was raised in the U.S. South and Midwest and now lives in the Denver area with her partner and their dog.
