With over 25 years of international NGO and academic leadership experience, Dr. M.D. Kinoti brings a practitioner‑scholar approach to teaching public affairs, integrating research, policy, and applied learning. His work spans Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the United States, with expertise in community development, peacebuilding, and economic empowerment. Dr. Kinoti has led monitoring and evaluation systems for international NGOs and researches sustainable livelihoods among smallholder tea farmers. He is active in global peacebuilding efforts and serves as Chair of the CommonSpirit St. Anthony’s Healthcare Foundation Denver Region.

 

As an educator, Dr. Kinoti is known for his learner-centered and globally integrated teaching approach, with courses spanning international development, sustainable development, nonprofit management, global poverty, and peacebuilding. He has led immersive, experiential learning programs for graduate students across multiple countries, helping prepare the next generation of leaders for complex global challenges.

He is the author of Making Peace with Fire: Harnessing Conflicts to Transform Your Relationships and has contributed to scholarship in nonprofit leadership, development practice, and peacebuilding.
