Julia Cummings is a PhD candidate and lecturer in the University of Colorado Denver's School of Public Affairs (SPA). She plans to graduate in Spring 2025. Her research interests focus on how policy narratives and imagery impact public opinion and civic engagement. She takes a collaborative approach to directing complex marketing and communications initiatives with proven ability to seek diverse and authentic stakeholder input. In addition, she is an affiliate faculty member for SPA’s Center for Community Safety and Resilience.

Cummings holds her MBA with a marketing emphasis from CU Denver and a BA in Humanities, magna cum laude, from CU Boulder. She has worked at CU Denver since 2007 as the School of Education & Human Development's marketing and communication director. Her previous work experience includes marketing and public affairs roles at the Smithsonian Institution, National Audubon Society and the Denver Museum of Nature & Science.
