Dan has been a Lecturer in the School of Public Affairs for over 15 years, bringing extensive real-world investigative and enforcement experience into the classroom.

In addition to his academic role, Dan serves as Director of Intelligence and Investigations at the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), where he leads intelligence operations and investigative efforts to protect the integrity of sport. His work centers on identifying and disrupting sophisticated doping networks and supporting global anti-doping enforcement initiatives.

Prior to joining USADA, Dan spent nearly three decades in U.S. federal law enforcement, including service as a Special Agent and Division Chief with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Office of Criminal Investigations (FDA-OCI). There, he led complex, high-profile investigations involving counterfeit pharmaceuticals, designer drugs, and adulterated dietary supplements, often targeting transnational criminal organizations and corporate actors. He also served as Chairman of the Permanent Forum on International Pharmaceutical Crime, fostering international collaboration among law enforcement agencies.

Earlier in his career, Dan was a Special Agent and Supervisory Special Agent with the U.S. Treasury Department including the Customs Service’s Office of Investigations and the Internal Revenue Service’s Criminal Investigation Division, focusing on transnational crime, illicit drug trafficking, and financial crimes such as money laundering.

Dan holds a Master of Science in Cybersecurity from Missouri State University and a Master of Criminal Justice from the University of Colorado Denver. He also maintains certifications in digital forensics and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Alliance for Safe Online Pharmacies.
