Sasha Breger Bush is an international political economist, associate professor at the University of Colorado Denver School of Public Affairs, and current Chair of the CU Denver Faculty Assembly. Sasha’s research deals with distributions of wealth, power, and risk in the global economy, with special attention to food and agricultural systems, international development, trade and finance, global drug markets, and higher education institutions.
Sasha is the author of numerous books and articles, including Derivatives and Development (2012, Palgrave) and Global Politics: A Toolkit for Learners (2021, Lexington, with Roni Kay O'Dell). Her 2021 article about food deserts and supermarkets in Denver won the Editor’s Choice Award in the Journal of Economic Issues, and her popular articles on political economy, globalization, and finance have been reprinted dozens of times, including in Dollars & Sense classroom texts. Sasha is also an expert in teaching and learning, including student-centered learning, metacognition, experimental course design, and community-oriented pedagogy, and is the recipient of the 2022 CU Denver Excellence in Teaching Award.
