Meet Curtis

Curtis Esquibel

Curtis leads Boettcher’s strategic communications and outreach efforts, working to connect with our diverse stakeholders through brand journalism, community engagement, and thoughtful messaging. In his multi-faceted role, Curtis also oversees Boettcher’s Doers & Difference Makers Fellowship, statewide networks of leadership practitioners and rural leaders, Colorado Leadership Stories Podcast, and serves as the executive editor of Boettcher’s news hub, LEAD. A native Coloradan, Curtis holds a deep belief in philanthropy’s potential to learn from and work with Colorado communities to meet their evolving, complex needs. Before Boettcher, Curtis spent more than two decades working in the nonprofit and education sectors in Colorado and New Mexico. Early in his career, Curtis was an award-winning journalist and wrote professionally for newspapers in Colorado and California. He earned a Bachelor of Science with honors from the University of Colorado Boulder and an MPA from the CU Denver School of Public Affairs.
