Every legislative session is unique, and some are surprising.  This year is no exception!

With democratic control of all three institutions, a new governor and many new legislators, this year’s dynamics may be different. Major topics to be addressed during the 2019 session include kindergarten and preschool, lowering health care costs, addressing
structural budget issues, fracking and environmental protection, and others.

We are almost halfway through the 2019 Colorado legislative session, with the session closing in early May. In light of considerable nationwide uncertainty caused by government shutdowns and changing priorities, our expert panelists will discuss what progress has been made, how the session has been shaping up, and what exciting opportunities and challenges lie ahead.

Please join us for this engaging and valuable discussion.

Panelists:

  • Chris Hansen, Colorado State Representative and Joint Budget Committee Member (Democrat)
  • David Oppenheim, Legislative Director, Polis Administration
  • Bob Rankin, Colorado State Senator and Joint Budget Committee Member (Republican)

Moderator:

  • Tanya Mares Kelly-Bowry, Vice President of Government Relations, University of Colorado
