First Friday Breakfast

Homelessness in Metro Denver: Policy, Prevention and Regional Approaches

Despite various policy solutions, from managing day-to-day needs of people experiencing homelessness to long-term prevention efforts, no one solution is adequate to solve this complex issue.

Camping bans have been rife with controversy and push people experiencing homelessness around the metro area. "Housing First" approaches have had some success but cannot solve the problem alone.

We'll look beyond camping bans to talk about a wide array of policies and programs being tested and considered around the region.

Panelists:

Cathy Alderman, JD, MSPH
Vice President of Communications and Public Policy, Colorado Coalition for the Homeless

Mark Deven
City Manager, City of Arvada

Britta Fisher
Chief Housing Officer, City and County of Denver

Moderator:

Lisa VanRaemdonck
Executive Director, CU Denver School of Public Affairs Institute
